Psychology Assessments & Support for Schools
Psychologist-led assessments to help schools understand pupils' learning, attention, communication, emotional and developmental needs.
Helping Schools Understand Pupils' Needs
A psychology assessment can help schools understand a pupil’s learning, attention, behaviour, emotional or developmental needs and identify appropriate support.
Our online assessments can help education providers feel more confident in applying for SEN support from the Local Authority, due to our experience and expertise in child development and learning. We gather information through a range of methods to inform interventions and offer a holistic overview of all things affecting children’s development that prove barriers to their success.
Service Level Agreements (SLAs) between YPS and schools/academy trusts enable protected time with our team, and priority with appointments. Often viewed as an extension of your SEN department, we assist you in bringing out the best in your students and enable you to more effectively manage their learning needs.
We offer online assessments in:
- Academic needs: General Learning Difficulties, Dyslexia, and Dyscalculia
- Behavioural difficulties: ADHD, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, and Executive Functioning
- Mental Health issues: anxiety, depression, anger, and low self-esteem
- Communication and Interaction needs: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Our psychological assessments and advice relate to the four Special Educational Needs (SEN) categories, as referred to in SEND Code of Practice 0 – 25 years (2015):
- Communication and Interaction
- Cognition and Learning
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health
- Sensory and/or Physical Needs
Educational Psychologists are highly trained in building rapport with children and older students and most individuals find assessment sessions to be a positive experience. Assessment reports often play a key role in obtaining an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), which formalises the necessary support to be provided by the Local Authority. In addition, it often helps older students gain exam concessions, such as extra time or rest breaks.
