MISSION-DRIVEN

Bridging the gap

Our Guided Self-help program is a therapy-based service which bridges the gap between self-help and individual counselling, but why is it needed? Often, people have the best intentions of getting to grips with their mental health and accessing helpful information and online resources. However, after having started, they often stop before sufficient time has passed for benefits to be experienced.

It takes time, and practice to master any skill or habit. The same is true of bringing about positive changes in your mental health. It’s easy to get distracted after the initial novelty has worn off. However, with a little professional help, the right resources, and easy accessibility,  you can overcome your barriers to motivation. Taking place online or by phone or text, this service offers accountability, encouragement and guidance through times when you may be tempted to slip back into unhelpful patterns.

“Rome wasn’t built in a day”

You wouldn’t expect to get a six-pack by going to the gym once or twice… it takes time, and practice to master skills and habits. The same is true of bringing about changes in mental health.

Why is it difficult for us to help ourselves or use mental health materials when we're feeling depressed or anxious?

1

Poor motivation and learned helplessness

The reason we provide the Guided Self-help service to individuals is rooted in the knowledge and experience of our founding psychologists.

Lowered motivation tends to go hand-in-hand with depression. Learned helplessness is when the individual thinks that whatever they try, they will most likely fail. Those with anxiety may be more able to access online wellbeing resources but struggle to decide which area to concentrate on or have difficulty keeping to one course at once. Our therapists are here to support you if you have depression and /or anxiety.

2

Overcoming mental barriers

Mental health materials created by our therapists and other experts in the field, can often lie dormant on people’s phones and computers. Our Guided Self-help service gives you access to digital mental health support through our website and raises your sense of confidence and motivation, which tends to be a barrier to positive mental health.

In line with the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines, facilitated self-help is effective in helping adults in the workplace with a range of mental ill health issues, including anxiety and depression. It is especially useful for people who have tried self-care approaches with no improvements in their condition after a considerable length of time.

Who does it help?

"1 in 6 people at work in the UK have a mental health problem"

People with

Depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, and Panic Disorder…,

Putting mental health First

What does it involve?

ready to reach new heights? Let's get there, together.

Our Guided Self-help service can be the key to unlocking the problem of non-action, and help you or your employees use the psychologist-created courses to overcome issues which affect you daily.
